JAW CLOSURE MECHANISM FOR A SURGICAL CLIP APPLIER A jaw closure mechanism (150) for use in a surgical clip applier (100) having first and second jaws (120a, 120b) movable relative to one another between a spaced-apart position and an approximated position to form a surgical clip ("C") about tissue. The jaw closure mechanism (150) includes first and second eccentric wheels (152, 154) rotatably coupled to the respective first and second jaws (1 20a, 120b). Each of the wheels (152, 154) includes a center and a pivot point (123a, 123b) that is offset relative to the center ("X"). A cable (156) is disposed about each of the wheels (152, 154). The cable (156) is engaged to the first wheel (152) at a first engagement point ("EI") and to the second wheel (154) at a second engagement point ("E2") such that, upon application of a drive force to the cable (156), the wheels (152, 154) are rotated and displaced relative to the respective jaws (120a, 120b) from a first position to a second position to urge the jaws (120a, 120b) from the spaced-apart position to the approximated position. |
