PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system which can automatically update authentication information in image processing devices to the latest state, and has high flexibility and usability in using the image processing devices.SOLUTION: In an authentication system 1, image processing devices 20 and an external authentication server (authentication device) 10, which authenticates a user to use the image processing devices 20, are connected. The authentication device 10 comprises: a data holding unit 12 for storing authentication information for authenticating a user; an extraction unit 132 for extracting authentication information of users other than a user to be authenticated from the authentication information stored in the data holding unit 12; and a communication unit 11 for transmitting the authentication information extracted by the extraction unit 132 to an image processing device 20. The image processing devices 20 comprise a data holding unit 24 for storing the authentication information received from the communication unit 11, and authenticate a user on the basis of the authentication information stored in the data holding unit 24 when the authentication device 10 does not perform authentication. |
