PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently suppress vibration generated in a barrier wall of an elevated bridge.SOLUTION: A damping device 1 includes arms 11a, 11b, and a viscous damper 12. An outer side curved plate 15 and an inner side curved plate 16 of the arm 11a, and a curved plate 20 of the arm 11b are respectively bent out-of-plane such that columns 5 become arcs in which rotation centers 10 are centers of curvature when there is bending vibration, and when the arms 11a, 11b relatively rotate around the centers of curvature, they can mutually reciprocate along circumferential directions. The viscous damper 12 is composed of a damper member 20a placed between opposing faces of the outer side curved plate 15 of the arm 11a and the curved plate 20 of the arm 11b; and a damper member 20b placed between opposing faces of the inner side curved plate 16 of the arm 11a and the curved plate 20 of the arm 11b. Damping force is generated in the damper members 20a, 20b following relative rotation of the arms 11a, 11b. |
