In order to accurately calculate an AF value, an imaging device (10) is provided with: an imaging element (14) containing a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements arranged in a first direction and a second direction; a color filter with a repeating basic array pattern containing a plurality of array lines that extend in the second direction and contain first and second filters in the second direction, said array lines including same array lines, in which the first filters are positioned at the same position in the second direction, and array lines in which the first filters are arrayed at different positions from the position of the first filters in the same array lines in the second direction; and an image processing unit (20) which reads off pixel signals in a plurality of pixels at a preset cycle from the imaging element (14), and from the pixel signals that have been read off, generates line image data for the same array line in the basic array pattern, performs pixel addition for pixels of a first color from the generated line image data, generates image data on the basis of the line image data which has been subjected to pixel addition, and calculates a contrast AF evaluation value on the basis of the generated image data.
