METHOD FOR EXTRACTING MAGNESIUM HAVING MINIMIZED CO^2 EMISSION

PURPOSE: A magnesium refining method capable of minimizing carbon dioxide (CO^2 ) emission is provided to contribute to resources recycling by manufacturing high purity calcium carbonate by reacting CO^2 with a by-product. CONSTITUTION: A magnesium refining method capable of minimizing carbon dioxide (CO^2 ) emission comprises the following steps. A magnesium containing oxide is obtained by putting dolomite into plastic treatment. Metal magnesium and a by-product are obtained by making the magnesium containing oxide to react with a reducing agent in a heat reduction reaction process. An aqueous solution from which Ca2+ ions flow out is obtained by mixing the by-product with water. The aqueous solution and the by-product are separated. Calcium carbonate is formed and collected by adding CO^2 to the aqueous solution.
