PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel refrigerating device which uses a natural refrigerant, which is safe, economical, and has superior efficiency, and which can stably maintain a temperature of -50°C or lower and a method for operating the same.SOLUTION: In the refrigerating device, a primary refrigerating cycle 1 using ammonia as a primary refrigerant and a secondary refrigerating cycle 2 using carbon dioxide gas as a secondary refrigerant exchange heat in a cascade condenser C, and the secondary refrigerant of cooled carbon dioxide gas cools a refrigerator by passing through a cooler in the refrigerator. The cascade condenser C includes a carbon dioxide gas condenser 21 including a heat storage function having a carbon dioxide gas side heat transferring capacity securing function for preventing an extreme rise in condensation temperatures even when the carbon dioxide gas solidifies to a certain degree on a surface opposite from a heat transfer surface of an ammonia evaporator 17. Further, a carbon dioxide gas liquid receiver 22 is provided downstream of the cascade condenser C. |
