PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control apparatus which can suppress movement of a vehicle in forward and backward directions.SOLUTION: A hydraulic part ECU2 includes: a braking force control switching part 2a configured to bring piston actuation actuated by a hydraulic part 1 into an unactuated mode when an initiation condition of hill-hold control is satisfied, and to switch an electric parking brake to an actuated mode from an unactuated mode; and a vehicle forward and backward movement suppressing part 2b configured to suppress the movement of a vehicle in forward and backward directions at the switching of the braking force control switching part 2a.
