The present invention relates to a novel method of and an arrangement for improving the lubrication system of a propulsion device of a marine vessel. The method and arrangement of the invention are specifically applicable in removing water from the lubrication oil of various types of thrusters. The invention is based on arranging inert gas from an inert gas source (74) to flow through a gas cavity (68) in the lubrication system for flushing moist gas from the cavity (68).
