<p>The invention pertains to the field of articles for packaging biological agents and is embodied by a method for packaging biological agents preferentially used in agriculture. The method involves filling a sterile package with sterile culture media, containing agar gel plus specific nutrients for the respective biological agent, checking whether contaminants are present and, if not, inoculating the agent to be marketed. At the present time, biological agents are diluted in a liquid and this technique has the drawback of killing spores by smothering, fermentation and release of products into the medium, such as enzymes and toxins that ultimately accelerate the process of death of spores that are still viable. Another technique is the dilution of the biological agent with solid particles, such as rice powder. Despite viability being only slightly enhanced in this case, contaminants such as Sclerotium sclerotiorum spores are possibly present, and spraying is made more problematic by the fact that the rice powder has to be diluted in water and forms a mass that clogs spray nozzles.</p> |
