The cooling system (10) has a head water jacket for cooling a cylinder head (21). The head water jacket has a coolant flow units which is arranged in a web portion (22) of a crankcase bore (15). The coolant flow units have inlets (26,27) that are connected with the crankcase. The coolant flow units are separated from each other. An operational unit (29) is connected at the area between the cylinders of the crankcase. An independent claim is included for a combustion engine.
