An image processing device (10) is a device for specifying a molecular position on the basis of a sample optical image acquired by an image pickup element (40) and is provided with: a template creation unit (15) which creates a partial template corresponding to a shape obtained by dividing the shape of a molecular model from a template included in pixels of M rows and M columns (M is an integer of 3 or more) corresponding to the molecular model; an evaluation value calculation unit (17) which, using the partial template corresponding to a shape obtained by being rotated each time by a predetermined angle around a selected notice pixel in the optical image, evaluates the degree of a match between the optical image and the partial template and calculates an evaluation value for each of a plurality of notice pixels; and a molecular position specification unit (18) which specifies the molecular position in the optical image on the basis of the evaluation values calculated for the plurality of notice pixels in the optical image.
