PURPOSE: An adamantine based compound is provided to increase anticancer activity with regard to overexpression of P-gycoprotein which is a main factor of multidrug resistance. CONSTITUTION: An adamantine based compound or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof is represented by chemical formula 1. The pharmaceutical composition for inhibiting multidrug resistance contains the adamantane-based compound as an active ingredient. The adamantane-based compound inhibits overexpression of P-glycoprotein which causes multiple drug resistance to anticancer drug. The anticancer drug is selected from vinblastine, vincristine, navelbine, paclitaxel, taxotere, doxorubicin, daunorubicine, epirubicin, idarubicin, etoposide, teniposide, colchicine, mitoxantron, dactinomycin, topotecan, tri matte lex acid, mithramycin, and mitomycin C.
