PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control apparatus for a continuously variable transmission whose failure part can be identified if a failure occurs in a hydraulic controller.SOLUTION: If a gear change failure (step S1) is detected, an ECU minimizes the output of a linear solenoid valve at a hydraulic control circuit to control gear change of CVT (step S2), and determines whether a clutch slippage occurs at a forward/reverse change-over device (step S3). If the clutch slippage has not occurred, ECU determines that the failure has occurred at a shifting solenoid valve (step S4). If the clutch slippage has occurred, ECU determines that the failure has occurred at other than the shifting solenoid valve (step S5). |
