Provided is a cap assembly mounted on the upper end opening of a can in a battery having a structure in which an electrode assembly (jelly roll) is built into the cylindrical can, wherein the electrode assembly is configured of a positive electrode, a separation membrane, and a negative electrode. The cap assembly according to the present invention comprises: a safety vent which is connected by a current inhibiting device (CID) for safety; a protruding upper end cap which is connected to the outer circumferential surface of the safety vent along the outer circumferential surface of the safety vent; and a gasket which is mounted on the outer circumferential surface of the upper cap. A positive electrode tab is welded to an uncoated portion where no positive electrode active material is applied in the positive electrode. At least one groove portion is formed indented in the upward direction from the outer circumferential surface of the lower end of the gasket so that welding of the CID and the positive electrode tab can be facilitated in the battery manufacturing process.
