The present invention relates to an industrial method for producing diphenyl disulfide that may have a substituent, and to an industrially advantageous method for producing a high-purity disulfide with high yield and low environmental load. An object of the present invention is to provide an industrially advantageous method for producing high-purity diphenyl disulfide that may have a substituent with high yield and low environmental load. The object is achieved by providing a production method including a step of heating thiophenol that may have a substituent under pressure in water in the presence of a basic inorganic salt and oxygen to cause oxidation and a step of separating diphenyl disulfide that is produced in the previous step and may have a substituent.
