The source e.g. drive battery (1), has battery cells (2) supplying electricity, and a cooling equipment (3) coupled to the cells to receive and dissipate heat generated in the cells. A coolant channel (4) conducts a cooling agent by the cooling equipment, and a cooling agent channel (5) is separated from the coolant channel for guiding the cooling agent in the equipment. The heat received from the equipment is removed by the cooling medium and cooling agent. A flash box is provided in the agent channel for releasing vaporization heat from the compression cooling agent of the equipment. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a cooling device for an electrical energy source in a motor vehicle (2) a method for cooling an electrical energy source.
