<p>By providing a compensation item, which is provided when a user wins in a specific mode, as an item that could be used in a different mode in an online game providing matches in a variety of modes, the interest and adaptability of users in different modes can be enhanced. As a result, as users can enjoy matches in various modes, a technique for increasing users' interest in a game is provided. The method for providing a compensation item in an online game, according to one embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: a compensation item providing apparatus generating at least one compensation item table for saving at least one compensation item corresponding to one of a plurality of modes that can be provided in the game, and usable in the other modes excluding the corresponding mode; setting a winning probability for each of the at least one compensation item in the at least one compensation item table; drawing one winning item, according to the winning probability, from the at least one item from a compensation item table corresponding to a mode that has been played, when a character of a user wins a match in the one mode from the plurality of modes; providing the winning item to the character, and displaying on a user terminal of the user a compensation item provision screen comprising a mode enter button for enabling the user to enter an item display mode, which is a mode in which the winning item can be used; and receiving from the user terminal a mode enter button signal for expressing whether the mode enter button is selected, and immediately entering the item display mode.</p> |
