PURPOSE: A positive electrode active material is provided to prevent formation of excessive coating on the surface of a positive electrode, thereby improving performance of a lithium secondary battery. CONSTITUTION: A positive electrode active material includes a core particle including a lithium-containing compound capable of reversibly intercalating and de-intercalating lithium ions; and a coating layer which is located on the surface of the core particle, and has a C-F bond. A manufacturing method of the positive electrode active material includes a step of preparing the lithium-containing compound; and a step of forming the coating layer on the surface of the lithium-containing compound.
