A horizontal support plate a has an exterior, angled, fixed abutment b and an interior movable plate c with angled abutment arms c1, c2 carrying dimpling pins e adapted for longitudinal outward movement when a wedge d is depressed by a hydraulically-operated, vertically moving, post f. The plate c is connected to the support a by a bell-crank and sprung toggle g2, g3, and during a lost-motion of the post f against a return-spring, the toggle straightens to clamp the section bars k1, k2 between the abutments band c1, c2 and final motion of the post f wedges the pins e to dimple the bars k1, k2. The post f and hydraulic cylinder move laterally with the plate c and the angular bisectors of the abutments b, c1, c2 and frame k1, k2 are coincident. In a modification, the post f is screw-operated, and the wedge d is sprung upwards.
