An electronic device (10), comprising a display (14) that includes a polarizer (62) with an opening, a sleeve (146) that passes through the opening, and a camera (22) having lens structures (126) that are at least partly contained within the sleeve (146). The display (14) comprises a thin-film-transistor layer (52) and a color filter layer (60). The electronic device (10) further comprises a layer of glass (180) that is attached to the display (14), wherein the layer of glass (180) has an opening through which the lens structures (126) and the sleeve (146) pass. T he color filter layer (60) and the thin-film-transistor layers (52) have respective edges and wherein the edge of the color filter layer (60) is recessed with respect to the edge of the thin-film-transistor layer (52) to form a ledge (184) on which the layer of glass (180) is mounted.
