<p>A pair of sheaves, i.e. a return pulley and a driving sheave, are provided at upper and lower portions of a hoistway. An elevating body capable of being raised/lowered in the hoistway is connected with one and the other ends of a main rope looped around the sheaves. The elevating body is provided with a rope tension adjuster for adjusting a tension of the main rope. The rope tension adjuster includes a tension detecting device for detecting the tension of the main rope, and an actuator device for displacing at least one of the one end and the other end of the main rope with respect to the elevating body based on information from the tension detecting device.</p> |
