PURPOSE: Display device is provided to reduce the number of wirings provided to a connection cable to be connected with an external device. CONSTITUTION: A pixel region (110) on a substrate includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix form. A scanning line driving circuit (102) is connected to the pixel region. A signal line driving circuit (103) is connected to the pixel region. A serial/parallel conversion circuit (104) supplies a parallel signal to the signal line driving circuit. A first external connection terminal (105a) supplies a serial signal to the serial/parallel conversion circuit. The serial/parallel conversion circuit includes a transistor on the substrate.
