An endoscope (1) has imaging apparatus at one end of a support rod (10) including a camera (40) and LEDs (41) mounted in a recess under a transparent end cap (32). An optical barrier (42) of a optically- opaque compressible material, such as a foam, rubber or silicone extends across the recess between the camera (40) and the LEDs (41) to divide the recess into two optically-isolated regions and prevent light leaking directly from the LEDs to the camera. The optical barrier (42) is held in compression between the floor of the recess and the underside of a transparent window (34) formed by the end cap (32). |
