<p>A sealing assembly 80 for use with a rotating machine 10 is provided. The rotating machine includes a stator casing 72 that includes a radially inner surface 74 that defines a cavity 76 therein, and a rotor 44 positioned within the cavity 76 and spaced inwardly from the stator inner surface 74. The sealing assembly 80 includes a support ring 94 coupled to the stator casing 72, and a plurality of plate members 96 coupled to the support ring 94 and oriented circumferentially about the rotor 44. A resistance member 98 extends inwardly from the support ring 94 towards an outer surface 78 of the rotor 44. The resistance member 98 is coupled to the support ring 94 and extends through each plate member 96 of the plurality of plate members. At least one rotor land 88 is defined circumferentially about the rotor outer surface 78. Each plate member 96 is oriented adjacent the at least one rotor land 88. Methods of assembling a rotating machine with such a sealing assembly are also disclosed.</p> |
