PURPOSE: A method for managing the lifetime of a tool using a tool offset screen is provided to save costs for maintaining and repairing by managing the lifetime of the tool using a tool offset screen supplied in a machine tool for controlling figures. CONSTITUTION: A method for managing the lifetime of a tool using a tool offset screen comprises the steps of: setting the offset number (S1); setting the maximum value (S2); setting the offset increased value (S3); counting the tool (S4); comparing the maximum value and the offset value (S5); and generating an alarm (S6). A machine tool for controlling figures processes a processed product and increases the offset value of an offset number corresponding to the tool which is used for processing the processed product as the offset increased value. If the offset value exceeds the maximum value when the maximum value and the offset value are compared, an alarm will be generated.
