PURPOSE: An energy saving system of construction equipment and a method thereof are provided to be driven in an engine output mode which reduces gas mileage or sets an engine output mode according to user's tendency when the ignition key of construction equipment with a transmission is turned off and rebooted. CONSTITUTION: An energy saving method of construction equipment comprises the following steps of: confirming (S210-S230) whether the energy saving function is set or not if an ignition key is turned off in motion or during work; confirming (S240) the current engine output mode in the motion or during the work if the energy saving function is set; and storing (S250-S260) the engine output mode by setting the engine output mode, which is driven when the ignition key is turned on, to a standard mode or the confirmed current engine output mode according to the confirmed current engine output mode.
