PURPOSE: An automatic teller machine and a method for controlling the same are provided to reduce unnecessary return of paper medium, by decreasing number of paper medium determined as abnormal state, and testing, aligning and recognizing the paper medium determined as abnormal state again. CONSTITUTION: An automatic teller machine (100) includes a medium processing module (110), a temporal storage module (120), a medium storage module (130), a reject module (140) and a medium transportation module (150). The medium processing module receives paper money from a deposit part one by one and processes the paper medium. The temporal storage module stores the paper medium of normal state processed in the medium processing module temporarily. The medium storage module (130) receives the paper medium stored in the temporal storage module and then stores the paper medium in the inside. The reject module receives the paper medium of abnormal state processed in the medium processing module and then returns the paper medium to the deposit part. The medium transportation module forms a medium transportation path among the medium processing module, the temporal storage module, the medium storage module and the reject module, and transports the paper medium along the medium transportation path. The medium transportation module forms a medium return path between the medium transportation path connected to the medium processing module and the reject unit, so that the paper medium of abnormal state is returned to the medium processing module and then is transported to the reject module. |
