PURPOSE: Music play termination device of a portable terminal and method thereof are provided to conveniently terminate music being played. CONSTITUTION: A key input unit (127) has a specific key for terminating music being played. If input of the specific key is maintained for greater than a specific time, a control unit (110) terminates music being played. The specific key prepared in the key input unit is a volume key capable of controlling volume of music being played. The specific key is a side key prepared in the portable terminal. If input of the specific key is maintained for greater than a specific time in a locked state of the portable terminal, the control unit terminates music being played as background music.
