METHOD FOR IMPROVING SCALE DETACHMENT PROPERTY

PURPOSE: A method for improving the detachability of scales is provided to reduce surface scratches on a steel material generated by the scales remained on the surface of the steel material which are not separated in rolling. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving the detachability of scales includes the next. A steel material is heated at a temperature of 900-1150°C in an oxidation atmosphere so that scales are formed on the surface of the steel material. The steel material is cooled while the oxygen partial pressure is maintained at 2 vol% or less so that the temperature of the scale surface is controlled to be 0.6 times higher and 0.8 times lower than the temperature of the steel material. After cooling and before starting a rolling process, the temperature of the steel material surface is controlled to be 0.9 times larger and lower than the initial temperature of the scale surface.
