PURPOSE: An elevator monitoring system and a method thereof are provided to constantly monitor the inside of an elevator by wirelessly providing an image taken in real time through a camera in the corresponding elevator according to the request of an inside image of the elevator through a security application installed at a portable terminal. CONSTITUTION: An image reception unit(52) receives a real-time digital image from a camera installed in the inside of each elevator. An image storage unit(54) stores the received digital image according to the control of a control unit(55). The control unit performs authentication with an ID(Identifier) and a password of an elevator transmitted from a portable terminal and transmits the received digital image to the portable terminal according to the control of an image transmission unit(53).
