PURPOSE: An air conditioner for vehicle and a control method thereof are provided to reflecting the reaction pattern of human when feeling coldness and warmth, thereby supplying wind to the neck or head part of passenger in a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner for vehicle includes a seat pressure sensor(10) or a safety belt, a seat duct(30), a control unit(40), and a shutoff valve(20) or a shutoff door. The seat pressure sensor or the safety belt is installed in each seat, and detects the location of passenger. The seat duct is connected with the air discharging vent of air conditioner and installed at a sheet upper portion or headrest vicinity so as to be opened and closed by each shutoff valve or shutoff door, thereby supplying wind. The control unit receives the location information of passenger from the respective seat pressure sensor or safety belt, and controls the respective shutoff valve or shutoff door so as to supply wind through the seat duct to the location of passenger.
