摘要 <p>The invention relates to a plasma technology for improving the wetting capacity (humectability) of the external surface of certain cylindrical objects (tubes, threads, bars, probes, catheters, textile yarns) made of polymers, to be employed in biology, medicine, chemistry, pharmacy, material sciences and industry. According to the invention, the radio frequency plasma generating device comprises a tube of dielectric material open at both ends wherethrough the object to be treated gets in, outside the discharge tube there being placed two ring-shaped metal electrodes, namely a power electrode and a mass electrode, and, by extension, the device may use a series of alternately polarized electrodes (power-mass, power-mass); a working gas is introduced into the tube through an insertion placed between the two electrodes, and it comes out through the tube ends, the discharge taking place only inside the tube. The claimed process for changing the external surface of cylindrical objects in atmospheric pressure plasma comprises the plasma generating device and a system for moving the objects along the discharge tube; the treatment intensity can be modified by the variation of the general discharge parameters (power, type of gas, gas flow), while the treatment duration is controlled by the variation of the moving rate; the application of the procedure results in the change of the hydrophilic character, the rugosity, the bonding capacity and produces the polymer surface activation, while, in the presence of the precursors in the working gas thin films are deposited onto the surface.</p>
