<p>591196 Disclosed is a method of producing a composite material capable of transition to a resilient electrically responsive composite material for application in a transducer, in which the resilient electrically responsive material is configured to experience a change in an electrical property in response to exposure to a form of applied energy. The method comprises the steps of receiving a flowable polymer liquid capable of transition to a resilient material and introducing electrically conductive acicular particles to the flowable polymer liquid to facilitate the conduction of electricity by quantum tunnelling. Dielectric particles are added to the flowable polymer liquid and both the acicular particles and the dielectric particles are mixed within the flowable polymer liquid. The acicular particles have a large dimension and a small dimension, the small dimension and the size of the dielectric particles being between 10 nanometres and 300 nanometres. A plurality of the dielectric particles are dispersed between adjacent acicular particles during the step of mixing, and the dielectric particles consisting of dielectric material only and being in a form that is separate from the electrically conductive acicular particles.</p> |
