PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of a negative electrode active material is provided to manufacture a negative electrode active material which can minimize the volume change during charging and discharging, and can improve battery lifetime by a cost-effective method. CONSTITUTION: A manufacturing method of a negative electrode active material comprises: a step of mixing lithium metal powder and silicon oxide powder(SiOx, where 1<=x<=2) at room temperature to 200 deg. C, by a solid-state process: and a step of conducting a single displacement reaction of the mixture to form silicon or a silicon oxide.
