PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce the power consumption and the heat generation of a data driver integrated circuit by selectively changing a driving mode according to an input image. CONSTITUTION: A data driving circuit(12) supplies data voltage to a common data line. A gate driving circuit(13) supplies a scan pulse to a first gate line connected to a first pixel, a second gate line connected to a second pixel, a third gate line connected to the third pixel, and a fourth gate line connected to a fourth pixel. A timing controller(11) analyzes input video data, selectively activates the interlace drive according to an input data pattern, and differently controls vertical polarity reversal cycle of the data voltage.
