The support post (10) has an elongated shaft (18) made of wood. An anchoring unit anchors the post in soil (S) and has a metallic reinforcement bar (15) coaxially traversing an axial bore (11) over an entire length of the shaft. A tubular retaining sleeve (14) is fixed in the bore at an end of the shaft so as to cooperate with the bar by screwing, while ensuring adjustment of length of a projecting portion (15a) to be sealed in the soil, and assuring axial positioning of the shaft along the bar. The sleeve has an internal thread cooperating with a complementary external thread of the bar.
