<p>A method of treating leather for imparting soil resistance to the leather by contacting the leather with a fluorinated hydrophobic additive comprising at least one fluorinated urethane or a mixture of at least one fluorinated urethane with at least one fluorinated ester, and the resulting treated leather having soil resistance are disclosed.</p>
