The method involves receiving a trigger event (11) i.e. application event, by a control entity (R), and sending a wakeup request toward a peripheral (K) e.g. universal serial bus (USB) mouse of a computer (PC) across a telecommunication network by the entity to communicate through the network, where the peripheral is powered by a connector i.e. USB connector that remains powered when the computer is in off or standby state. A wakeup signal is transmitted from the peripheral to the connector so as to awake the computer. An independent claim is also included for a wakeup system for a computer.
