When producing calcine products by dead roasting of metal sulfide concentrate, in particular concentrate with a low sulfur content such as PGM sulfide concentrate, the concentrate is roasted in a circulating fluidized bed (1) at a temperature of about 950 to 1050°C, the waste gas of the fluidized bed is passed through a recuperator for preheating at least part of the fluidizing air or through a Venturi drier for drying at least part of the concentrate to be roasted thereafter, and the calcine product obtained in the fluidized bed upon roasting is provided for further processing with a sulfur content <1 wt %. |
