Provided is a random mat suitable for a preform for a molding having a rising portion such as a rib. A random mat which comprises 50 to 100 mass% of reinforcing fibers having fiber lengths of 3 to less than 15mm and 0 to 50 mass% of reinforcing fibers having fiber lengths of 15 to 50mm, each mass% being relative to the total amount of reinforcing fibers contained in the random mat, and which satisfies a specific basis weight and a specific degree of opening.
