Aspects of the disclosure provide a circuit that includes a detection circuit and a controller. The detection circuit is configured to detect a starting of a conduction in a power supply provided via an electronic transformer. The controller is configured to control a current regulating circuit to pull a current from the electronic transformer at a pre-determined level enough for triggering the triac dimmer during a time duration following the starting of the conduction, and pull the current at a reduced level according to a predetermined profile after the time duration.
