<p>An approach is provided for efficiently managing contact data in a phonebook by utilizing social proximity information at a device. An application and/or a widget processes and analyzes contact details associated with one or more contacts in order to determine a similarity to one or more other contact details associated with one or more users and/or one or more other contacts. Further, the application and/or the widget can determine one or more social proximity information items associated with the one or more contacts, the one or more users and/or the one or more other contacts and can utilize the social proximity information to manage (e.g., organize, group, sort, etc.) the contact data in the phonebook.</p> |
