<p>The invention concerns a drive belt (3) comprising steel transverse elements, (33) each transverse element (33) provided with a recess accommodating a part of an endless carrier (31) of the drive belt, which endless carrier (31) is composed of a laminated set of flexible steel rings (32), each ring (32) including a nitrided surface layer (50). The invention prescribes a predetermined relationship between the thickness D of the ring (32), as measured in the radial direction thereof, and a thickness T of the nitrided surface layer (50) thereof that yields a minimum stress level in the ring (32) during operation of the drive belt (3).</p> |
