<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for controlling a picture color tone of a printer, in which tone control can be performed with high accuracy even when a different screening is used together in printing. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a print characteristic information obtaining means for obtaining print characteristic information of the printer corresponding to each kind of the screening used in plate making of a print picture; a screening information obtaining means 18B for making the kind of the screening used to each region of the print picture correspond with each of the regions to obtain the kind of the screening; an interesting pixel area setting means 18A for setting a particular pixel area in the print picture for each ink supply zone of the printer, as an interesting pixel area region; and an ink supplied amount control means 20 for controlling a supplied amount of ink on the basis of the print characteristic information corresponding to the kind of the screening in the interesting pixel area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
