<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for braking a spun yarn at the resumption of spinning in a working position of an air jet spinning machine, which enables braking force to be regulated by the change of force applied to a loading point. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for braking a spun yarn 100 at the resumption of spinning in a working position of an air jet spinning machine, action force at a loading point Y and reaction force at a stop point act on a movable brake friction member 30 in order to generate braking force. One of these points is located at the end of the movable brake friction member 30 opposite to a contact abscissa or a contact surface, and the other is located between this member and the contact abscissa or the contact surface.
