<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To address such a situation that, when an instruction is received from a user to identify a partial area used as a query from a sample image, the partial area is cut out (excluding areas other than the partial area from a processing object) and a local feature amount is calculated from the image of the cutout partial area, the local feature amount is calculated from an area having a specific dimension, the calculation may not be performed equally in some locations within the area selected by the user, and the retrieval may veer in a user's unintended direction. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus identifies an area for use in a retrieval in an input image as identified area by an operation of a screen on which the image is displayed; extracts an image feature amount from a query area formed by enlarging the specified area; and retrieves an image similar to the extracted image feature amount. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
