PURPOSE: A disaster signal receiver for vehicles and a method thereof are provided to output a disaster broadcast through a vehicle A/V system by receiving a disaster signal transmitted by a nation. CONSTITUTION: If an ON-state of an ignition key is detected from an ignition state detecting unit, a control unit(140) confirms the extraction of a disaster signal from a disaster signal receiving unit. The control unit generates an operation control signal of an A/V system. The control unit generates a frequency alteration control signal. An A/V system operating unit(150) operates the A/V system according to the operation control signal of the A/V system. The A/V system operating unit outputs a disaster broadcast by altering a frequency of the A/V system according to the frequency alteration control signal.
