An image processing system for processing a regional image and a control method thereof are provided to divide images into interest region images and non-interest region images and store more interest region images than the non-interest region images, thereby improving efficiency in storing the images. A method for controlling an image processing apparatus for processing a regional image comprises the following steps of: checking whether a photographing command is inputted(S210); photographing images respectively in first and second image photographing units(S220); determining whether an interest region division command is inputted(S230); dividing the photographed images into interest region images and non-interest region images(S240); generating a panorama image with a field image configured by the interest region images and the non-interest region images for a first predetermined time and generating a panorama image with a field image configured by only the interest region images for a second predetermined time(S250); and compressing and storing the panorama images in a predetermined format(S260). |
