<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fader capable of indicating necessity of exchange or maintenance checkup. <P>SOLUTION: A fader 1 has: an operation part 1a which reciprocates; and a signal output part 2 for outputting a control signal, whose value is different depending on a shift position of the operation part 1a, to a controlled apparatus 3. A comparison part 4 compares the levels of an output value of a signal output from the signal output part 2 and a predetermined setting value. A determination part 5 determines variation in the levels of comparison results of the comparison part 4 as reciprocation operation of the fader 1. A storage part 6 stores the number of the reciprocation operation determined by the determination part 5.
