The device has a casting device applying an irrigation fluid. A hand operated through valve (6) is arranged at the casting device. A global positioning system (GPS)-detection module (7) determines position coordinates of the casting device. A flow meter (5) measures a casting amount of the casting device. The casting device includes a data processing unit (8), which detects the coordinates and measurement values of the casting amount of the casting device, and stores the coordinates and the values in association to each other based on pulses, which are produced by the valve or meter. An independent claim is also included for a method for irrigation of solitary plant objects.
